Haddington Sprint Triathlon

112 competitors completed this sprint distance event which has the Aubigny Sports Centre pool as its venue for the 750m swim. A 19km cycle around the county's rural roads follows the swim and the weather was just about ideal, apart from the ever-present wind, which thankfully was at the rider's backs as they headed back towards Haddington on the cycle. The run section was a longer 7km run route this year with short sections on roads but also some pleasant sections on paths and trails leading back to the finish at the Aubigny Centre.

Men's Race

Craig Dale (Edinburgh University Triathlon Club), fresh from his silver medal at the World Duathlon Championships at Holyrood Park the previous weekend, was first home in a total time of 1:07.21, Stephen Clark not far behind in second place with 1:07.54. Third placed Ian Logan (West Lothian Triathlon Club) finished in 1:08.39. First-placed veteran and in 4th place overall was Frank Boyne (West Lothian Triathlon Club) in 1:11.30.

Women's Race

The women's race winner Shemane Murtagh (Stirling Triathlon Club) finished in a time of 1:26.39 nearly four minutes ahead of second placed Mairead Kelly in 1:30.32. Mary Wood took 3rd place in 1:30.43.
