Mixing Your Own Homemade Sports Drink

Recipe # 1

750-ml. water 250 ml. unsweetened fruit juice (e.g. orange, pineapple or apple juice) Pinch of salt (approx. 1 gram) Mix all the ingredients together and keep chilled.

Recipe #2

2 litres water
10 tbs. sugar (5/8 cups or 120 grams)
0.75 tsp Sea salt (4.2 grams)
1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid mix for flavor
The recipe will give a total of 124 grams of solute, which in 2 litres water gives a total of 6.2% concentration.
For an 8 oz serving this gives:
14.2 grams carbohydrate (6%)
53 calories
103 mg Sodium
121 mg Potassium

Recipe #3

2 litres water
1/2 cup orange juice
9 tbs. Sugar
3/8 tsp Salt

Recipe #4

1-litre water
200ml of orange squash (concentrated orange)
Pinch of salt (1g)
Mix all the ingredients together and keep chilled

Recipe #5

2 quarts water
1 pkg unsweetened Kool-Aid drink powder (any flavor)
½ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
½ cup orange juice
Mix together until everything is mixed and dissolved. Chill and drink.

Recipe #6

1-cup (8 oz) water (not carbonated)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
Small pinch of salt
Flavoring and sweetener to taste

Flavoring Ideas:

Crystal Light Drink Mix
Unsweetened Kool Aid (with sugar substitute to taste)
Sugar-Free Flavored Syrups such as Da Vinci or Torino
